PULSE THE SHOW

Join the PULSE THE SHOW Cast

We are auditioning musical professionals with backgrounds in movement and dance for our Atlanta production.

Audition Overview

Cast members must live close enough to the Atlanta metro area to be able to attend frequent rehearsals and shows.

Production for the show will occur in September, 2014. Cast members will be asked to attend rehearsals during the weekends in September. Cast members will have these dates on their contract if they are casted.

Cast members must be available to perform Opening Night on October 8, 2014.

Cast members must be able to perform October 10 (evening), 11, and 12.

After October 12, cast members will be notified of upcoming rehearsals (mainly weekends only) and booked shows.

The company recommends cast members be employed with another company Monday-Friday during regular business hours to earn sustainable income. This schedule will work best for concurrently working as a cast member in PULSE THE SHOW. Cast members can take on evening and weekend employment opportunities but should have the flexibility to accept booking opportunities with PULSE THE SHOW on relatively short notice (not less than 48 hours).

Cast members may decline a booking opportunity. See below: “Understanding PULSE THE SHOW Casting.”

Audition Process

All potential cast members must record a video audition and upload the video link to our website. Editing the presentation is allowed, however, splicing together any individual part of the audition is strictly prohibited. Each individual “scene” and musical selection must be presented in one take.

Experience in drum corps or previous dance training is mandatory.

Please carefully review the three sets of requirements below:

Understanding PULSE THE SHOW Casting

What does a PULSE THE SHOW cast consist of?
PULSE THE SHOW is a 10-member cast consisting of 4 trumpets, 2 mellophones, 2 marching baritones, and 2 contras. The company will be contracting roughly twice as many performers. This gives the cast member the flexibility to coordinate their primary employment responsibilities with being a successful PULSE THE SHOW cast member.
Who should audition for PULSE THE SHOW?
PULSE THE SHOW cast members must possess the highest level of musical and visual training possible. An ideal cast member will have a college degree specializing on their instrument, although it is not required. In addition, an ideal cast member will have experience performing in a top 12 DCI drum corps or have extensive moving and playing abilities and/or have formal dance training. Cast members must be at least 21 years of age.

PULSE THE SHOW is a product being sold to clients interested in event entertainment. Our product has a specific look that dictates the body shapes we can cast. PULSE THE SHOW cast members must have a slim and athletic body shape. Cast members must be willing to make changes to hair color and hairstyle and may be asked to minimize or remove body jewelry.
What is a Cast Ranking System?
The cast will be organized using a cast ranking system. All cast members in a particular role will be ranked according to their audition tape. When the show is booked, first-rank cast members in each role will be contacted first regarding the performing opportunity. The company will allow for a certain number of scheduling conflicts (missed shows). Once that quota is reached, the cast member will begin to lose rank while other cast members will increase their rank.

The company may at times release certain shows to lower-ranked cast members to provide performing opportunities to all cast members. This will not be the norm, however. It will be at the discretion of Music in Motion Productions.
How long is a casting season?
One casting season is 6 months. During that time, cast members will be evaluated by show staff. Cast member performance evaluations will determine if a cast member is asked to perform in the following season. Additionally, cast member rank will be evaluated at this time.
How close to Atlanta do I need to live?
Cast members must live close enough to the Atlanta metro area to be able to attend frequent rehearsals and shows.
When will PULSE THE SHOW be produced?

How do I prioritize my cast member responsibilities?
